Joey LeGath relocated to Racine when his father, a Milwaukee police officer, opened a George Webb restaurant in 1966. Joey and his wife, Anna LeGath, are household names in the Racine-area food industry after 30 years of business. Joey’s Yardarm (previously “Yardarm”) is LeGath’s newest acquisition.

Tyler, Joey’s nephew, has a passion for food and years of culinary experience to assist his aunt and uncle at Joey’s Yardarm. Tyler’s vision consists of preparing food from scratch with fine ingredients to give healthy options.

The LeGaths wish to make Joey’s Yardarm a combination of “strong traditions with some changes” to start a long, prosperous future for Joey’s Yardarm.

Junaid and Angela established Chit Chaat after moving from Japan in 2019. Angela, who was born and raised in Racine, taught English in Japan where she met Junaid from Pakistan.

Junaid missed his mother’s cooking, and would video call her to learn her recipes. With Angela’s support, Junaid opened Chit Chaat to “share the fresh and flavorful food of his origins with his new community.”

Chit Chaat partners with Sleeping Giant Coffee, and you can find their daily specials on Facebook.

Tasia White, a Racine native, graduated from UW-Parkside and Alverno University where she taught and served as a principal for six years. However, White always loved cooking.

Learning Rachel Ray’s 30-minute meals as a teenager, White loved how people’s faces would “light up at the sight” of her food.
